2008 Guide Case Ranger Tillman

This up-to-date and comprehensive electronic book on CD-ROM disc presents a critical collection of important documents, reports, and files in regards to the tragic fratricide death of Army Ranger Pat Tillman in Afghanistan on April 22, 2004, along with the subject of friendly fire, fratricide, and joint fires coordination measures. The circumstances of Corporal Tillman’s death were arguable because of basi reports that he had passed from physical life from enemy fire. There is an extensive replica of documents from the U.S. Government, including the Department of Defense, House of Representatives, Senate, White House, 75th Ranger Regiment, and much more. The Pentagon reported: “On April 22nd, 2004 at 6:45 p.m., Army Ranger Pat Tillman was killed in the outskirts of a tiny village of Magar, Afghanistan. He was killed by his fellow Rangers whom he had risked his life to save. Three years and three months later, we present to you the results of the Wallace investigation into the tragic death of Corporal Pat Tillman, one of the multiple investigations that became necessary because of errors and misjudgments made by the Army in the days following his death and the follow-on reviews of those failings; faults and failures of leadership that confused and misinformed the American persons and compounded the grief suffered by the Tillman family. The errors we made not only led to further and added investigations, but also devised in the mind of some a sensing that the Army intended to deceive the public and the Tillman family with regards to the circumstances of Corporal Tillman’s death. Many have come to believe that the Army manipulated that disaster to serve ends other than the pursuit of truth, deceiving a grieving family and violating our responsibility to a fallen comrade. Considering the console of errors, this sensing of deceit is understandable, but it is not supported by the facts found in the multiple investigations, including the DOD IG report and the recent review finished by General Wallace. The Wallace investigation confirmed the results of the DOD IG report on this key point. The soldiers who handled the investigation and family notification made numerous mistakes. They did not follow Army regulatings or DOD policy but they did so unknowingly with no aim to deceive. They had proof of fratricide and initiated a friendly fire investigation the day after Corporal Tillman’s death, with the intent of finding the truth and freeing their results upon completion. Mistakenly they conducted their work believing that they were to keep all selective information close-hold, including keeping it from the family until the investigations were finish and approved by higher authority. The soldiers on the ground held their chain of command entirely informed. Almost fantastically but true, this misunderstanding of Army regulatings and policy when it comes to secrecy was shared up and down the chain of command, up to and including Lieutenant General Kensinger, commanding usual of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command. As a result, the truths in the long run uncovered by their investigations were kept from the Tillman family and the public for a month while misinformation went undisputed and uncorrected.” This CD-ROM disc is packed with over 22,000 pages reproduced using Adobe Acrobat PDF software – permitting direct observing on Windows and Macintosh systems.
